Spring is approaching, and not as fast as I'd like it to. I'm appreciating the little snippets of rising temperatures -- although they remain as teasers nonetheless. Streetwear has been on the rise and a break is not foreseeable for the raging apparel. Something that has caught my eye is racewear - not actually what real race car drivers would wear, i'd presume.. but race-themed pieces. Checkered patterns, flags, and cars decorate silhouettes tight and loose. It isn't a new trend, car brands have been creating apparel for as long as they've been making cars basically. A recent project I've noticed is Honda's work with Forever 21 in creating a whole apparel series - a cool contemporary take on the ordeal. A piece that captured my attention is from the FILA x Sanrio collection -- the whole collaborative capsule surrounds this theme. The piece sports checkered patterns across the front, back and arms with co-branding prints all around. Needless to say, I needed to have it -- like every other little girl, hello kitty was kinda my obsession (tied with sailor moon). Its an oversized silhouette so I am able to wear it tucked in or over a pair or trousers. Here, I've paired it with one of my favourite jeans and sock boots for a simplistic look.

The weather forecasts cloudy days and light showers, only to be proven otherwise by none other than mr.sun☀. June is here, and we have been gracefully blessed with the rising of temperatures and the warmth of sun rays in recent weeks. Residing in Canada, it isn't out of the ordinary for me to doubt the consistency of this glamorous weather, but fingers crossed!
Let's talk about summer tops, and i'm talking super basics - the tube top. It's a bit of a blast to the past when strapless tops dominated in the late 90s-early 2000s. This is a trend that I will happily stand behind because well, i'm a super simple gal and this is a super simple piece. One thing I'm not a fan of though, are strapless bras. Nobody likes to pull that up every ten minutes but nipple covers are a wonderful thing - use it!! A roommate of mine used tape, or even bandaids but hey, whatever works for you.
I've worn them with a pair of track pants for a more casual, sporty spice look in the first outfit (so comfortable). In the second look, i wore them with my favourite pair of high waisted jeans for an everyday, casual look. The best part - the tube top will literally pair well with anything. Free your shoulders this summer and go strapless.

Ok if i'm being honest, no colour can truly replace classic black, but orange is really here to make a bold statement in my books. Rewind a few years, it'd be one of the last options i'd drape over myself, but I snagged this reversible jacket in under 5 minutes. It also serves as a happy reminder that warm weather is right around the corner! Winter blues had me boxed in with muted tones and this bomber by Alpha Industries is a great transition piece for me to ease into spring (fingers crossed that the warm weather this week is not another tease). I paired it with some charcoal frayed jeans, which i've noticed to be a huge circulating trend btw! It wouldn't be a mistake to snip off the ends of some old jeans (tip: throw your jeans in the dryer after cutting them, ez pz distressing!). Also worn with a light sweater to tackle the chilly nights that still linger on, and some classic black booties. Throw some bold statement colours into your wardrobe for a warm feel until the double digit weather decides to stick around!
